1. Can I stay in the room during my child’s session?
While your presence is something your child would really want in the therapy room, especially if the child is very young, it is lot easier for the child to connect with me in your absence, so that he/she is able to explore and express their feeling freely. We can discuss your child’s needs and comfort level together and gradually transition to independent sessions with me.
2. How long will my child need therapy?
Every child is different. Some may benefit from short-term support (12 sessions), while others need more time, depending on the nature of their challenges. I'll regularly review your child’s progress with you and we can make a collaborative decisions based on your feedback and my observations in the sessions.
3. What if my child doesn’t want to talk?
That’s perfectly okay! In play therapy, children are never pressured to talk. They can communicate through toys, art, role-play, or even silence. I meets your child where they are emotionally, and builds trust gently.
4. Will I receive updates about my child’s progress?
Yes. I schedule regular parent check-ins to share general themes, progress, and ways to support your child at home. Specific details of what happens in sessions remain confidential to protect your child’s emotional safety.
5. What ages do you work with?
I primarily work with children aged 3 to 16. If your child is younger or older, I will be happy to discuss your concerns and recommend the most appropriate option.
6. Is play therapy effective for children with autism or ADHD?
Yes. Play therapy can be really beneficial for children with all neurodevelopmental differences. They find it easier to express themselves through creativity, manage sensory challenges, and improve emotional regulation in a supportive, non-verbal way.
